Most homes in the area have drywall walls and ceilings. It is a solid material, but it marks easily. A doorknob swings too far, a picture hook comes out, or a screw head starts to push through the paint. None of these are urgent on their own. Together they can make a room look tired. If you keep a running list of little wall flaws, this is the kind of work that clears it out.

Our crew handles small drywall repair for homeowners in Chattanooga, Hixson, Ooltewah and nearby towns in Tennessee and Georgia. We set popped fasteners, tape and mud cracks, patch holes and sand the area smooth. Patches can be primed and touched up, though matching an older paint color is not always perfect. Larger jobs, like replacing a full sheet after a leak, are quoted as projects.

Signs

Signs your walls need a patch

  • Small round bumps where a nail or screw head shows
  • Thin cracks running up from the corners of doors or windows
  • A dent or hole behind a door from the knob
  • Holes left from old shelves, hooks or TV mounts
  • Tape seams that bubble or peel at a ceiling joint
  • Outside wall corners that are dented or chipped
What we do

How we fix it

  • Drive a new screw beside a popped nail, then set and patch both
  • Cut out loose tape and re-tape cracked seams
  • Patch small and medium holes with compound or a mesh patch
  • Feather the edges so the patch blends into the wall
  • Sand smooth and keep the dust contained
  • Prime and touch up paint, using your leftover can if you have one
  • Point out any crack that keeps coming back so you can keep an eye on it
Why it matters

Why small wall damage is worth fixing

Nail pops are very common, especially in the first years after a house is built or an addition goes on. Wood framing dries and shifts with the seasons, and that movement can push a fastener out or open a seam. Humid summers followed by drier winters, like we get here, make some movement a normal part of the year.

Most small cracks and pops are cosmetic. Still, they tend to grow when left alone, and a loose fastener can keep working its way out. Dented corners can catch on clothes and bags and chip further. Fixing a wall before you paint, sell or host family is much easier when the damage is small. A crack that keeps returning in the same spot, or one that gets wider fast, is worth having a specialist look at.

The Winter Inside List is where drywall repair lives. That visit starts with nail pops and drywall cracks, then moves on to trim and hardware. Members get it as part of the $60 a month plan, with materials billed separately. If there is a hole you want gone now, the $59 Fix-It Hour handles small patches and comes with a full-home checklist and photos.

FAQ

Drywall repair questions

Why do nail pops keep showing up in my walls?

Nail pops usually happen when the wood behind the drywall shrinks or shifts and the nail head pushes out. This is common in newer homes and after big swings in humidity. The fix that tends to last is adding a screw nearby to hold the board tight, then setting the old nail and patching over both.

Can a patch be finished in one visit?

Many small patches can be done in one visit with fast-setting compound. Bigger patches may need more than one coat, and each coat needs time to dry before sanding. If a repair needs a second pass, we will tell you up front and plan it into your next visit or quote it as a project.

Will the patch match my paint?

We do our best, and it helps if you have leftover paint from the room. Even the same color can look a little different on a touched-up spot, because paint fades and sheen varies. Sometimes painting the whole wall from corner to corner gives the cleanest look. That would be quoted as a project, with 10% off for members.
